Oh brother where art thou?
If you’re backsliden and you’re friends dont lovingly call you out on it, here’s the deal.
They dismiss scripture themselves bc scripture teaches us to lovingly call out our brothers/sisters in the faith being careful that we don’t fall into the same sin.
They care more about how you feel about them then how you feel about God.
They prob are a smudge backsliden too and don’t want to be faced with the plank in their own eye while pointing out the speck in yours.
They either don’t care or don’t believe that the dangerous place in which you stand will indeed merit the reaping of God’s righteous judgment that will certainly crush you under His divine wrath. They’ll say they believe it….so they probably don’t care enough to rescue you from the “oncoming traffic.”
They’re really not your friend.
Well in the coming days we as a church are going to be going through our inactive members list. A term that is paradoxical. Inactive member? We mean rebellious, out of God’s will, member. As we lovingly call these members out in order to reconcile them back to God and the church we are going to do our best to uphold God’s plan for you hitch discipline. What many don’t realize is that Paul, in his first letter to Corinth, instructed the church to kick out the unruly member so that “Satan may buffet” them. That is literally to let Satan attack them so hard that they will run back to the grace of God that they turned away from. Its an act of love. Jesus is the savior. Not the church. Not the pastor. If satans bruises and Gods judgment will affectively get them back then its worth it.
