Today is an emotional day for me. Tomorrow, January 10th, the David Crowder Band drops their last album. I’m so excited that I have to keep an empty jug and paper towels around because i just keep urinating myself. At the same time i’m sad so I keep busting out in tears and snot. By the end of the day I will be dehydrated from excitement and sorrow.

I started this blog because of Crowder. I wanted a blog, I didn’t know anything about blogs other than reading them. I was a follower of Crowder’s blog and it was a Tumblr. If it’s good enough for Crowder it’s good enough for Holbert. That’s what I alway say. As an homage to Crowder you’ll see an asterisk at the top of my blog, “The Tent Holbert Band”. It’s encompassing of the “band”.  What would the Trent Holbert Band be without the band? Scary to imagine, I know.

I remember the first time seeing Crowder in concert. They opened for Third Day at the Palace in Louisville. That was my first introduction. I remember thinking, “This guy looks like a Tibetan mummy. Deathly skinny, large teeth and an amazingly long goatee”.  To date it was the best concert I’ve ever been to. I screamed like a little girl.

Crowder’s music became my worship play list. Before the day would get started, I’d put in my ear buds and “oh, praise Him”.  His book, “Everyone wants to go to Heaven but no one wants to die, or the eschatology of bluegrass” really touched my heart. What a great read. His rockumentaries brightened my day. His compositional intertwinements of rock, folk, psychedelic, and electro just blew my mind. I can’t believe it’s over.
