I did my devotion today on one verse. I went deep and wide and God spoke volumes to me. I had planned on blogging it and then I noticed my wife’s post. It was the same verse. Read my notes and for those who follow her, read hers too. God is amazing.
Micah 6:8
Mankind, He has told you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you:
to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8 HCSB)God is not interested in our religious or ceremonial recompense Ref vs 7
He has required 3 things
Or, He has shown us what is “tov” most inner beautiful ref Gen 1 “God saw that it was good”1. To be just or to show justice. Mishpat
This is an action word… To be actively just
To set right any wrongs2. To love big. Ahavat chesed (love loving kindness)
To love mercy, to be faithful in loving, to love grace3. To be humble, to walk with Him
He wants us to walk with Him, but the only path is humility.
Micah was so humbled he referred to God as “Hashem” or name.
He hath showed thee, O adam (man), what is tov. And what doth Hashem require of thee, but to do mishpat, and ahavat chesed, and to walk humbly with Eloheicha? (Michoh 6:8 Orthodox Jewish Bible)The Lord God has told us what is right and what he demands: “See that justice is done, let mercy be your first concern, and humbly obey your God.” (Micah 6:8 CEV)
